Coming off of Fall Break we had a very busy schedule. This past week we played Tuesday night at King College, Thursday night at home against Virginia Intermont, and then we had a tournament at Asbury College in Kentucky on Friday and Saturday.
King is a big rival for us! We played a tough four games against them, but a few errors in the fourth game led to our loss.
By Thursday, we had three players injured, two of them being our setters, but we beat VI 3-0 and played great! Thursday night was also our faculty/staff appreciation night so all the girls invited our professors to come watch us play and then we invited them to a reception following the game. After we left the gym, some of us went to the baseball game to hang out before packing up to leave at 6:30 in the morning for the four hour drive to Kentucky.
We had our first match at 2 p.m. and then didn’t play again until 8:00 p.m. that night. Meredith, our senior middle, is from Lexington, KY, and her parents only live 25 minutes away from Asbury so they had a really nice cookout for all of the girls and our families in between games. A lot of the girls who live far away were able to spend time with their parents, grandparents and siblings which was really great.
It was a great weekend overall and we saw some quality teams at Asbury which I think will help us get better as a team come conference tournament time.
Until next time GO BUFFS!!!
